Boats Running Low-Season!
Between May and November there are speedboats running daily between Koh Lipe and Pak Bara
With the marine park and all its islands right next door to us there is so much to explore by boat. We organise boat trips and have trips suitable for families with children and for those that want a little bit more adventure.
Visit Beaches & Islands
Although Koh Lipe's beaches are beautiful, why not visit a deserted island and have the whole beach for yourself? We?ll send you off with a pack lunch and water and you can spend a leisurely few hours hanging out on a deserted beach and swimming by yourself. If you want something more adventurous go on a jungle trek and visit waterfalls, or go and see the troupe of crab eating macaques.
Snorkelling
The underwater world around Koh Lipe and in the Marine Park are a wonder to behold. You don't need to be a diver to enjoy it - take a snorkel trip and explore one of the hundreds of coral reefs within the area. For more information download our boat trip guide book.
The History of Tarutao
Tarutao was infamous in Thailand as it was a prison for political prisoners. During WWII the central government had enough of its own problems and couldn't send supplies to the island. The governor having tried begging passing shipping for charity didn't know how to keep everyone alive and let the prisoners out and together they tried their hand at piracy. Until 1947 when the British navy turned up, this merry band terrorised shipping in the area. With the permission of the Thai King the Royal Navy arrived with 300 Gurkhas and cleared out the pirates. The prison was closed and fisherman and farmers used the island until it became a national park in 1974.

The Butang Islands
The Tarutao National Marine park is made up of several island groups. Koh Lipe is a small island that belongs to the Butang Island Group which is dominated by the large islands Koh Adang and Koh Rawi. Another dozen smaller islands and outcropping rocks complete the Butang group.Visit our website Koh Lipe Map and learn more about the Butang Islands and all the things to see.
All out boat trips are organised by our dive shop, Castaway Divers. Find out more about our trips by downloading our boat trip book and then either book in advance or turn up on the island and pay us a visit.
